twistedlibrarian writes “Politicians from across the divide are up in arms over North Eastern Education and Library Board plans to axe 12 branches.
The DUP’s Ian Paisley Jnr said: “The Ballymena area is once again to be the most significant hit with six branch libraries targeted for closure and only Kells and Connor and Portglenone left standing.”
This is gladdening…
I am glad that representatives of the largest (according to the last Northern Ireland Assembly election) unionist and nationalist Northern Ireland parties can agree on something . Based upon some recent things I wound getting into, I would not doubt that many folks in the profession in the United States would be concerned that someone from a nominally/historically conservative and protestant would be in favor of the provision of library service. Most American conservatives would be thought to be laying a trap or have nefarious plans in mind if they expressed support for libraries.
