On the topic of things being classified that you think would not be classified. I heard this story. A russian scientist I the 1970’s or 1980’s was going to a nuclear power conference and he was told by the higher ups not to talk about the Soviet technology. He said “That is ridiculous our stuff is ten years behind the west why would we keep it a secret.” The higher ups told him “That is the secret.”
