Librarian Eva Gronowska’s “My Turn” Column in Newsweek

Southfield Public Library’s Eva Gronowska (on Twitter) has an excellent “My Turn” column in the 04/06/09 issue of Newsweek. The tagline: “As a librarian, my world was always about books. But in this economy, I’ve evolved into a career counselor.”

While there has been no shortage of articles in newspapers and magazines on the job-related resources libraries offer and the current economy’s impact on library usage and atmosphere, Gronowska’s is the first I’ve seen written in the first person by a librarian on the front lines.

UPDATE: Also of interest is Gronowska’s tale of how she got the gig–by responding to a tweet from @Newsweek seeking 140-character-or-less responses on “how the recession affects you.”
