To update our recent story on Amazon.com’s search engine, Anonymous Patron sends us some concerns by way of Slashdot.
AP writes “You install the toolbar, then all your Web browsing, as well as all your searching, is stored as well.” Slashdotters ask, “Where is all the media hype about this privacy issue?”
It is a feature.
The storing of your searches by A9 is a feature. I think librarians would often have use for this feature. For example, to bring back the search you knew found results yesterday. A9 is running the Google search engine. If you don’t like the storage of your searches there are two things you can do. 1) Use Google directly. 2) Once at A9 you have to login for it to store your searches. Just don’t login.
