Anonymous Patron writes “Celebs Go for ‘Esoteric’ Books in 2005: Celebrities leaned toward specialized, somewhat abstruse subjects — and Huck Finn — as they listed their favorite books for 2005 in the annual “Who Reads What List?”
“Very esoteric this year,” said Glenna Nowell, who started the celebrity reading list in 1988 when she was librarian in this small southern Maine city. “There’s such a diversity of books, and not well-known, not best sellers.” Nowell also notices a lot of nonfiction this year.”
So, what are *you* reading for fun…?
What do our library world celebs read for fun?
My personal (decidedly non-celeb) submission: I’m currently reading The Best Alternate History Stories of the Twentieth Century and have Kim Stanley Robinson’s Years of Rice & Salt and John Robert Marlow’s Nano on deck. Yes, I’m on a weird sci-fi kick again. I’ve had enough of Little Nutbrown Hare for a while…
Anyone, anyone? Bueller?
Re:So, what are *you* reading for fun…?
Sociobiology; Richard Lerner; Final Solutions: Biology, Prejudice, and Genocide.
Some fun. I think I’d rather have a root canal.
Re:So, what are *you* reading for fun…?
I’ll play along.
My current reading list, also very non-celeb: Inside the Foreign Legion by John Parker, Scourge by Jonathan Tucker, Writing from the inner self by Elaine Hughes, Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block, A home at the end of the world by Cunningham and Rainbow Boys by Alex Sanchez. I also read a lot of fanfic online, if that counts.

Right now, my non-celeb but much fun reading is Wicked by Gregory Maguire; Cluetrain Manifesto by Rick Levine et. al.; Popol vuh; the sacred book of the ancient Quiché Maya, English version by Delia Goetz and Sylvanus G. Morley; Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety by Judith Warner. All trolled from various blog recommendations. Several more waiting in the file drawer–must read more!
