Another smelly library story this time from East Peoria, IL via the Peoria Journal Star. State officials recently visited the library and found conditions there deplorable to say the least. Secretary of State Jesse White said “You gotta be kidding me,” as he emerged from a closet-sized basement room that holds office space for three workers. “This is like doing time!”
Fourteen million dollars is needed to build a new facility, and the community will need to voice their approval by voting in a tax hike. Board of trustees President Sue Herring likened the increase to “ten dollars a month more, or the equivalent of “a pizza and a soda”.

Just $17 dollars more a month….. (Hey, its less than a tank of gas)
To the average Joe all these “just $10s” add up to real money.
