Sandra Jacobson, a Colorado woman who was found guilty in April for her role in the traffic deaths of two Greenwich librarians who were visiting Denver last year, was sentenced today to 36 years in prison, according to news reports in Denver and confirmed by the Denver District Attorney’s Twitter account.
Ms. Jacobon, 41, of Centennial, Colo., was sentenced to 36 years after being found guilty on all charges including two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and driving under the influence.
The Jan. 28, 2009, crash killed Kate McClelland, 71, and Kathy Krasniewicz, 54, both from Riverside. The two were in a taxi on their way to Denver International Airport after a national conference of librarians. Ms. Kransniewicz was recently memorialized by a friend with a donation to the town’s Storymobile, a fully fitted trailer that runs literacy programs for young children.
Prosecutors say Ms. Jacobson was going about 85 mph and had so much alcohol in her system she was still drunk hours after the accident.
