mdoneil writes “Some parents in Wisconsin (cheese capital of the world) want to remove Maya Angelou’s autobiography, Why the caged bird sings
The Fond du Lac Reporter has the story here. Now I can take or leave Ms. Angelou but I think it is simply silly to remove a book because it reflects reality. Then again I am a librarian no matter how much I try to deny it.”
Due process
Nice to see that they have a review process in place; it should damp down the reactionism on both sides of the debate. This isn’t the first time I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings has been challenged because of the inlcusion of Ms. Angelou’s childhood rape. I don’t understand why people who act on the basis of “We Must Protect The Children” would want to cover up that that sort of does go on even in polite society. Such an action would only further victimize the victims.

Here I am agreeing with Fang again. I’m going to the corner pub.
they should ban it …
… because her voice is deeper than mine. It’s creepy and totally emasculating.
Which you’d think I’d be used to by now.
