For proof, consider the outpouring of shock and anger that resonated across Erie County last week in reaction to the news that all 52 public libraries will close after Jan. 1 unless the county resolves its funding crisis.
The Buffalo news has past coverage Here, and Here, Here, Here. Most of those are opinion pieces, but Growth On The Books is an interesting article on a section of the city near the Central Library in downtown Buffalo, where some rundown blocks are seeing encouraging signs of new life.

I always thought my overdue fines were enough to keep all the BECPL open, but I guess I was wrong. This marks the first time I’ve written to all my elected reps. on an issue.
