Visiting librarian, teen save dunked motorist

Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Reports A Long Island school librarian and a teenager from Rochester combined to rescue a man whose pickup careened off Interstate 390 and wound up underwater in a Brighton pond with the man still inside.

One rescuer, Mike Doyle, who was in Rochester for a convention, saw the truck leave the highway Friday night, leapt from his car and ran to the pond, located along I-390 at the eastern edge of the Monroe Community College campus.

“I jumped in and swam out. By the time I got there, the truck had submerged. Just as I got there, the gentleman in the truck surfaced. He just popped up, thankfully.
