Veterans carve out piece of history

Jen Young sent over a link to This One on a major effort from the Library of Congress to gather war stories into a new national collection of oral histories and is asking the public for help. Most of the project’s work is oral history. Project director Lovell said anyone can help. The best sources are the veterans themselves, but the Library of Congress is encouraging ordinary citizens — especially people who are not veterans — to help by interviewing vets.

“History is not just the memoirs of generals and politicians. It’s the memories of people who fought the wars and who lived through wartime,” said Ellen Lovell, director of the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project.”
