U.K. Police Charge 3 Men in ‘Jewel of Medina’ Fire

Three London men were charged in connection with a firebombing last week at the office of a publisher that plans to release “The Jewel of Medina,” a book that has angered some Muslims.

Abrar Mirza, 22, Abbas Taj, 30, and Ali Beheshti, 40, were charged with two counts each of conspiracy to destroy property and endanger life, the Metropolitan Police said in an e-mailed statement. The men, all from east London, were arrested on suspicion of committing acts of terrorism. They appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court today and were ordered held in custody until an Oct. 17 hearing, a court spokeswoman said.
