    Spelling
    In the article they spelled librarians as “libarians”. Maybe they are meaning to blend the word librarian with barbarian. You get a libarian.

    Yeah! That’s it! Ban “pro-homosexual” drama. That’ll make all those filthy gays and lesbians and bisexuals go away! That’ll show ’em!

    I have a better idea! Next time, let’s ban the Republican Conventions and the Democractic Conventions! Maybe that’ll make those politicians go away too.

    It’s getting scary out there….

    I dearly hope one of my exs is correct when she says that we’re due for another political upswing after (what I see as) the intensified attacks on civil liberties over the past several years. I live in New York (state), and I’m fairly incensed by actions at the federal (and occasionally state/local) level; I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to live in Alabama — other than expecting that anyone like myself would have already high-tailed it out of there at the first opportunity. As things stand, I’m already strongly considering moving to Canada — and I’m in one of the better states.

    From states with a reputation for being less tolerant of personal freedoms, there typically comes a cry of “bring it back to the state level” — the aim being to at least deny those freedoms at home if the same cannot be done nationally. Under the current climate, however, how long will the state level protect those of us in more tolerant states when the federal government is intent on stripping those freedoms away?

    As I’ve been growing older, I’ve increasingly become less of an idealist and more of a pragmatist — but this still scares me.
