What company, based in Arkansas, donated close to $3 million dollars for a brand-spanking-new children’s library in Rogers?
You’re right, it’s Wal-Mart…
… just don’t ask them to purchase any of those objectionable kids books if you know what we mean…
The grand opening and dedication was last Saturday, August 6th (day and date now confirmed by our very observant readers), with clowns, storytellers, singing cowboys, balloons, and lots of happy children. Story from the NorthWest Arkansas News .
When?
Last Saturday, August 13th? This is August 8th, dear…
I slept in this morning (day off) but I didn’t sleep THAT long…
Re:When?
A big OOPS. Sorry, date is now corrected.
Re:When?
Last Saturday was the 6th, not the 7th. I am keenly aware of this because Sunday, the 7th, was my birthday.:)
Re:When?
Oh my.
Happy belated birthday, and don’t count on me ever again to get the day/date right…I must have one of those funky European calendars.
Re:When?
Thanks! And don’t worry; we’ll get you a new calendar for Christmas.:)
The real issue…
This is what we should be discussing
“… just don’t ask them to purchase any of those objectionable kids books if you know what we mean…”
Does the Wal-Mart money come with “strings attached?” Do they have any influence over
what books, etc. will be bought, displays or programs held in the library.
How much power does or doesn’t this corporate sponsor have?
