Teen Handed Stiff Fine, Punishment for Arson

Somebody writes “KXLY.com reports A court ordered a teen to pay at least $33,000 restitution, in addition to 120 days of confinement and 250 hours of community service for setting fire to his school in Spokane WA. After serving out the remainder of his four-month sentence he will have to get a job and start paying that money back. He set fire to the library at Sacajawea Middle School, not once, but twice.”

    Middle School baddie
    Sounds like this was a good case for not ‘sparing the rod’ but I think terms like ‘baddie’ are a good example of how we are so out of touch with youth. Sort of like your great Aunt Harriet saying something is ‘Fab’.
    On second consideration I would hope that along with the other punishments this kid gets, he gets turned over for some psychiatric help. Two attempts at burning a library and a middle school? If there’s a short in this kid’s battery he’s only a walking time bomb and mere punishment may not do the trick! I can’t even say the word “baddie” without pushing my glasses down on my nose and holding a finger to my lips. It doesn’t work otherwise.
