Taft: “Our tax system is outdated…”

AshtabulaGuy writes Mark Tuscano reports in this morning’s edition of The Star Beacon about Ohio Governor Bob Taft’s visit yesterday to talk about his proposed budget at the Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School. Tuscano especially wrote: ‘Questions pertaining to fuel marketing, public library and local government funding and delays in phase out of inventory taxes while warehouses take on new tax burdens immediately suggested flaws in the governor’s plan.’ (emphasis added) Although specific questions were not mentioned Tuscano noted that Taft did not necessarily reply to any of such questions directly.

An Associated Press report carried by The Star Beacon as a sidebar to Tuscano’s report noted that Governor Taft’s disapproval rating is the highest any Governor has had in the 24 year history of the Ohio Poll conducted by the University of Cincinnati.

A budget for the upcoming Ohio budget biennium must be passed before July 1st.”
