PaidContent has the details on an interview with Steve Haber, the boss of Sony’s ebook reader business, where he trashed the $10 ebook and praised DRM. And now you all know why no one buys Sony ebook readers. Basically, the product’s boss has decided to take an anti-consumer stance. Why would anyone want to shell out hundreds of dollars on a product when you know the company that makes it wants to screw you over?

not so
I bought a Sony instead of a Kindle. I can load it with all the epub or pdf files I can get free (for now) from Google Books, and no one can reach into my ebook and erase them.
Kindle
All the epub files can be read on the Kindle

I had a Sony
I had a Sony and unless you formatted the PDF files in a certain way they were unreadable on the Sony Reader. The font size was 4 or 5.
Converting to lrf
In order to read comfortably on my Sony reader I have converted many things to lrf- Sony’s proprietary format, through a free downloadable software. I have just sent back my reader to Sony for a firmware upgrade so that it accepts epubs as well. That’s a nice service.
