Leopold Munyakazi, a French professor at Goucher College who was barred from campus after officials learned of his genocide indictment in Rwanda will be allowed to use the college’s library says the AP.
A sophomore peace studies major, Lizzie Chadbourne, helped organize the petition and said 400 people signed it. Ms. Chadbourne said many students believed that Mr. Munyakazi should be allowed access to the library because he was a scholar, even if he no longer taught on the campus in Towson.

He is no more a threat to people at the library than he is to people at a local restaurant. Since he was allowed in the country, he should be able to do as he pleases. If they really dislike this guy so much, they should spend their energy having him deported, or lobbying for a change in immigration policy.
Why not?
Mr. Munyakazi is innocent until proven guilty. If other scholars are allowed to use the library, why can’t he?

If he got barred from the campus, does that not include the library? I know here, you get banned from the campus, it does include the library and out you go. Having said that, yes, he should be innocent til proven guilty, but that is a different issue.

colleges and universities, even if they are private, must, if they take federal dollars in any way, allow the public access to campus facilities, especially ones like libraries. This includes accepting students who have college paid for with federal student loans and grants.
Different rules, such as not allowing the public to check materials out can be made, but the community has to be allowed access. You actually cannot even keep felons from using these facilities
