Self Service Reducing repetitive musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) of Staff

The Search Guy pointed at an ArgoWeb Article that says More and more libraries are turning to technology to help ease the pain of checking out books for patrons, reports Salon.com.
“We had to get out of the checkout, check-in business. That’s the place that staff was getting injured,” Jackie Griffin, director of library services at Berkeley, told Salon. “And it’s not helping people find materials in the library. We have really good, really well-trained people, and [checking out books is] not using them in the best way.”
Not much here that wasn’t in the Salon piece, other than the saving on injuries focus which suprises me.
