School libraries = It’s not

A Nice Report From The Rio Rancho Observer – Rio Rancho on school libraries. It seems the word “library” is about to fall into the category now inhabited by “8-track tape” and

“turntable,” words today’s school children are unfamiliar with.

At many schools now, libraries have been replaced by the term “media center,” and it seems

there’s a good reason or two for that.

Libraries are a place where books are found and, yes, they’re still found there now.

But at Mountain View Middle School, there’s so much more, including, most importantly,

students who are there to learn.

Ron Gedrim, in his fifth year as librarian at MVMS in northern Rio Rancho, has successfully

found a way to merge his loves (he has two master’s degrees) for art and writing into his passion

for education.
