Scholastic Joins with American Petroleum Institute

Found this piece about how the largest distributor of children’s books, Scholastic, has entered into a partnership with the American Petroleum Institute by hosting a “Powering Your World” website which is heavily weighted toward information about, surprise, petroleum products. No readily available info on alternative sources or non-renewable energy that I could find. From the website:

Welcome to Powering Your World with Classroom Energy, a national science standards-based program for grades 6-8 developed by Scholastic Inc. and the American Petroleum Institute. In three easy-to-use lessons that challenge students’ critical thinking, essay writing, and research skills, you’ll find everything you need to teach the basic science about energy, including real-world applications that show how energy is used, the sources from where it comes, and surprising facts about energy around us in our world.

Links included on the website include “Progress with Petroleum” and “The Story of Gasoline. Thanks to Library Juice for the link.
