Scholars Suspect a Political Motive as Nixon Library Nixes a Conference on Vietnam Era

Anonymous Patron writes “The Chronicle of Higher Ed. is now covering The decision by The Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace to call off an academic conference focusing on the history of President Nixon and the Vietnam War, citing financial considerations and a lack of interest.

Last week’s cancellation of the event, which was to have been held April 28 and 29 in conjunction with nearby Whittier College, Nixon’s alma mater, has angered many historians and scholars, who say the private library is seeking to squelch discussion about the Nixon presidency.”
