Turner writes “Wired Magazine produces this article”

“Internet pornography is the new crack cocaine, leading
to addiction, misogyny, pedophilia, boob jobs and erectile dysfunction, according to clinicians and
researchers testifying before a Senate committee Thursday November 18,04…

Mary Anne Layden, co-director of the Sexual Trauma and Psychopathology Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Cognitive Therapy, called porn the “most concerning thing to psychological health that I know of existing today.”

    Gov’t money to study
    “What makes pornography addictive” is apparently one of the items in the bill taxpayers are going to be asked to pay for. Glenn Beck who was on a roll about the profligate spending of the Republicans being wannabe Democrats said on the radio today he could save them the trouble and expense. Then he offered his “research.” One word. Which he shouted into the microphone.

    Probably the word he ought to have shouted is “biologyâ€?. But unlikely that was the word…it might have been “Sexâ€?…seems to me that sex is an activity the human race has never given up…but of course if they did than they would truly “give upâ€?…sort of like breathing…human beings have been doing it for ages. They never seem to get over it.

    That seems to be putting the cart before the horse. I think a better question to ask is if Pornography is addictive, if it is, how addictive is it. If the number of people, on a per capita basis, are as addicted to pornography as, say, shopping, then you have to ask yourself if it is a societal problem (like drug addiction) or if it is an individual problem (like shopping).
