    Sam Spade in film
    I only know of two films with Sam Spade, both are versions of The Maltese Falcon. The actors were Ricardo Cortez (1931) and, of course Humphrey Bogart (1941). His most durable film characters were Nick and Nora Charles played by William Powell and Myrna Loy.

    If the character Sam Spade appeared in other films they might not have been written by Hammett
