Andrea Notes Some fabulous store front branches in under-served areas of the Brooklyn DUMBO neighborhood — could go underfunded by the Brooklyn Public Library. [Note: That’s the Brooklyn Public Library, not the NYPL as I had written.]
Nate Hill put two years of work into the project, and you can read all about it because he’s hoping that his knowledge will be put to good use somewhere.
So what is this Library Outpost model??
-Strategic location.
-Extended service hours.
-Collection available via online holds system.
-Reference service.
-Wireless access and digital library content.
-Programming and Exhibition space.
New York Public Library doesn’t serve DUMBO
New York Public Library, which received the $100 million donation, doesn’t serve Brooklyn. It serves Manhattan, the Bronx, & Staten Island; Brooklyn Public Library is a separate entity.
it is BROOKLYN PUBLIC, not NEW YORK PUBLIC!!!
Brooklyn Public Library is a separate system from New York Public Library.
The point is that NYPL gets huge donations, while BPL gets scraps and faces tightening city budgets.
We struggle to innovate, but never have the cash.
We need donations!!!!

Thanks for the corrrection
Brooklyn Public Library is a separate system from New York Public Library.
Indeed it is. This website is almost as poorly edited as Slashdot.
Modernization and innovation
Modernization and innovation needs a lot of money. Some authority will need to have a sponsor or a donation perhaps in order to make thing happens. In our place out library still doesn’t have a taste of technology.
