Public forum on PATRIOT Act at the Ann Arbor library

Betsy Vera writes “Two articles in today’s Ann Arbor News about the PATRIOT Act. This one about its defenders and detractors; the other one is about a public forum held at the public library.
Ann Arbor District Library Director Josie Parker was disappointed that she couldn’t draw much interest or a keynote speaker for a public forum on the effects of the USA Patriot Act last year. … “We had 17 people come then and I’m just thrilled about this,” she said, relaying the anecdote to about 200 people attending the second community forum on the Patriot Act. “I’m very encouraged that this many people are aware of the impact on civil liberties and getting a broader understanding of its ramifications.”
