Pub Lib is great, but I’d toot a horn for LIS News too. There may not be as many subscribers, but there are more ways to communicate within the community, and more ways to express ourselves as individuals.
And when is that 10,000th story contest anyway?

Let’s see: LISNews should toot a horn for LISNews? So that all of us who come here and don’t go to…no, that can’t be it…
My guess is that Karen Schneider and the folks at PUBLIB think well of LISNews. Otherwise, they wouldn’t post that story here…
(Or is it somehow important that we think BETTER of LISNews than of PUBLIB? If greatness is a zero-sum game, count me out.)
Censorship of contributors to publib
The censoring of publib needs to be looked at impartially. There’s an intolerant attitude among some hypocritical advocates for intellectual freedom. Instead of engaging in reasoned exchanges about our cities’ public libraries censoring of public municipal archival records, a circle the wagons so to speak approach is routine.
Some of our cities’ public libraries departments very own public archival records are censored. For example, try asking as many staff have tried for the Boston Public Library Reorganization Plan presented at the public meeting of our public library board. Routinely, access is denied public libraries users/clientele , public libraries staff and public libraries unions advocates.
greatness is a zero-sum game!
At LISNews, we hope 2004 will be the year we control everything dealing with the internet and libraries. All lists, all blogs, all communication will be filtered through LISNews. The LISNews quest for world domination will not be thwarted by Schneider and her puny army of 5,000 public librarians, we will fight them on the lists, we will fight them on the web, we will never stop!!
I’ve actually had a few people ask me about this one, which suprised me. It just seemed like a good thing to post, that’s all. Also seems like a good idea, maybe I’ll steal it and send out plugs for LISNews, I think there’s still alotta folks out there in libraryland that don’t know about us.
To toot a horn for LISNews, we’ve only been around for 4 years and we already have half of the number of subscribers, and many days we see close to 5k visitors, plus we’re all orangey!
As for the 10k, we’re still about 900 stories away.
