Programmers Devise New Ways to Make the Pieces Work Together

Last month, Microsoft bought the two-person Lookout company, with the obvious intention of incorporating its search system into future versions of Outlook and Windows. And then – a shadow falls across the landscape – it banned further downloads of the program.
