Principals praise take-home libraries

The Salt Lake Tribune Reports On Lynn Cooper created a library that allows first- through third-graders struggling with reading to take home a book every night to read with a parent. Every two weeks, the children are tested, then mentored based on performance until they’re reading at grade level.
Such efforts made Fremont one of about 100 Utah schools that passed AYP requirements this year after failing them in 2004, according to the Utah State Office of Education.
