Principal Eats Fried Worms as Reward for Meeting Reading Challenge

“They didn’t taste like chicken” said Principal Ryan Lindquist, and librarian Jan Madsen of the Conestoga Elementary School in Murray, NE backed him up. The librarian of course came up with the idea based on Thomas Rockwell’s beloved children’s book, “How to Eat Fried Worms,.” if children at the school committed to read 100 million words this year. They did, and the principal ate the worms as promised.

Condiments included mustard and teriyaki sauce, and for dessert–gummy worms. Here’s the whole slimy, er, crunchy story.
