@Princeton, Reading Filibuster to Protest Frist’s Filibuster Ban

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Princeton alumna, has proposed curtailing the use of filibuster in the Senate (to limit discussion on judiciary appointments), and his actions are now being protested by current Princeton students by means of a “Reading Filibuster”.

Students have been reading aloud from Shakespeare, biographies and the ever-exciting phone book around the clock for more than a week. According to the Times article, Frist’s politics have riled students at his alma mater before. About 30 demonstrators braved a steady rain in 2003 to protest U.S. AIDS policies outside an alumni gathering where Frist received an award for distinguished service.
