Philly Advocates Yell over “McBranches”

A lot of feisty advocacy yesterday at a Philadelphia City Council meeting where plans to turn 20 branch libraries into librarian-free “express” sites were discussed.

“When Elliot Shelkrot was told to cut at the library, what else was cut? What management positions were cut?” he asked. “I wouldn’t even use the word ‘express libraries.’ We have to say ‘some place with books on shelves.'”
