Pennsylvania Library Hurting Financially

AshtabulaGuy writes The Clarion News reports that Dr. William Buchanan (a library patron and also Professor of Library Science at Clarion University of Pennsylvania in the same borough) is now seeking grant funding to help put air-conditioning into the children’s area.

The story highlights an example of the plight of Pennsylvania libraries as such libraries continue to be left without sufficient operating funds. The Board of Trustees, facing a small amount of funds in the bank, is trying to cut back as hard as possible and is looking at restricting heating and cooling as possible budget savings.

Grant money can only go so far in picking up the slack from state appropriations and other tax dollars.”
