OU students throw huge party in the school’s library, until the police show up
NORMAN – Students at the University of Oklahoma may not be studiously tending to their finals this week.
Police were called to a large student party inside the Bizzell library on the OU campus in Norman late Wednesday night.
Someone at the party sent 2NEWS cell phone video of the rave. The video showed thousands of students partying throughout the library.
Misleading
It seems that this “rave” had the blessing it needed to proceed as a campus event as university administration were informed and did nothing to stop it. The linked article also says that the police were there as a matter of routine, not called in in an emergency-type situation:
“The newspaper also says police were positioned throughout the building to watch over the party.”
It also says that it was a “silent rave” to celebrate the end of the semester. The students danced to music they were listening to on their own personal ipods (not on loudspeakers) making it the perfect type of party for a library!
I think this would be a grand tradition for any academic library to try. No alcohol, no drugs, no loud music, but a great, fun way for college kids to let loose after finals.
