Ottawans Protest Library Closings

Little story from CBC Ottawa about a loud and raucous meeting of the Public Library Board in Ottawa. Over 100 members of the community, including children, sounded off in regard to the city’s plan to eliminate three library branches. Twelve year-old Emma Thompson commented: “Your idea to close three neighbourhood libraries will make it more difficult for kids to get to a library on their own,” she said. “Neighbourhoods are not just circles around a library on a map.”

Trustees have called for three new town meetings before a final decision is to be made.
