Online digital library journal call for submissions

Submission Deadline (Issue 3): January 31st, 2006

Digital Watch (www.digitalwatch.org) is an open access online academic journal, which has been created by graduate students in the University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences to offer a forum for the discussion of issues relating to digital libraries and contemporary culture. The tone of Digital Watch reflects our intent to foster a lively and vigorous discussion of digital culture, one free of jargon and (unintentional) obfuscation. Future issues are opened to contributions from the broader graduate and professional community of library and information science.

Our mission mirrors that of the British Broadcasting Corporation: “To inform, educate and entertain.” As an author in the field of digital studies, your task is simply to meet any or all of these criteria. Please submit original manuscripts of any length up to 2,500 words. Every paper submitted will be subject to blind review by MLIS student reviewers. The small print can be found at Digital Watch’s web site.

It is preferred that submissions be made electronically via Digital Watch’s site. Authors should click on the above link, and then on the ‘Register’ button. You’ll be taken to a registration screen, where you should register as ‘Author’. From here, making an on-line submission is a fairly simple process.

Submissions should also be sent as an email attachment in plain text format to the editor [email protected], and must be received prior to October 31st, 2005 deadline. For issue 3, submissions must arrive by January 31st, 2006. The cover page of the manuscript should include the title, the author’s name, the institution with which the author is affiliated, and the author’s contact information. The author’s name should not appear elsewhere in the document. For presentation and citation style, please follow the guidelines set forth in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th Edition, 2001. Please include a brief abstract of approximately150 words with the manuscript.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Julian Aiken: [email protected]
