The South Norwalk Library is going to get rid of what are believed to be some of the oldest public bathrooms in Connecticut due to a renovation project.
Despite their possible historical significance, no one is clamoring for their preservation. “The toilet and sink in the second-floor bathroom are original pieces, said Reginald St. Fort, branch librarian. The toilet, made by Torrento, has a vent to lead fumes out of the building. Before venting, sewer gases could creep into homes through indoor plumbing systems.
Beside the toilet is a wide, porcelain-lined, cast-iron sink made by American Radiator & Standard Sanitary, now American Standard. The bathroom does not have an electrical switch on the wall — a cord hangs from a wall-mounted lamp.” The rest of the story from the Stamford Advocate.

Isn’t there some sort of mewseem someplace
dedicated to this stuff that would preserve,
protect and display it?
Re:Donate it to Posteriority! π
Of course there is. And it is almost in the neighborhood.
Apparently there’s one in India, as well.
