Ohio Libraries losing budget battle

More Bad News From OH where Ohio libraries that got nowhere trying to head off funding cuts during House budget talks last month are about to hit the same brick wall in the Senate, say several Senate finance committee members.

“I think it’s going to stay the same, with a 5 percent cut,” said state Sen. Bob Schuler, a Sycamore Township Republican. “That’s not my preference.”

Southwest Ohio’s libraries rely on the state for up to 95 percent of their money. A 5 percent cut – on top of three years of frozen or reduced funding – is going to hurt, library leaders say.
