NZ-published books account for more than half of turnover

More New Zealanders are buying books by New Zealand authors than previously thought, a new survey has found.

According to a Colmar Brunton survey released today, around 56 per cent of turnover in the publishing industry was generated by New Zealand titles.

The president of the Book Publishers Association of New Zealand, Michael Moynihan, said the strength of the domestic market was surprising, as it was assumed that imported titles had the lion’s share of the market.
