North Carolina Library “adopts” Mississippi library

The Tryon Daily Bulletin (Tryon,NC) Reports The staff of the Polk County Public Library is “adopting” the Long Beach Public Library, just west of Gulfport. The staff learned of the loss of the library through a Long Beach resident, Jean Sneed, who had come to stay with relatives in Polk County. The Long Beach Public Library in Long Beach Mississippi had: 45,924 books; 1,019 audiotapes; and 1,234 videos. Today, library director Jeannie Ripoll can count on her fingers the library materials that are still usable.
