No county funding, so the state gets the books

Marlene writes Dickson County Commissioners voted to keep their original budget as approved in July, with no funding for the Dickson County Public Library in the 2003-2004 budget. One of the commissioners commmented that the reason they decided not to fund the $50,000 needed for the year, was because the commissioners were lied to by the library administators. According to the commissioner, they had been told there were 50,000 card holding patrons, and it was later reported that the number was 6,809. The library stands to lose a half million in state and regional funding because of a contract that mandates the county to meet the previous years funding.”
