From 1869 to midway through 1910, secretaries recorded with the flourish of calligraphic pens minutes from meetings of town leaders in Chapel HIll NC. Those words, though, have been fading more than the typewritten and computer-generated pages that followed.
Joseph J. Marotti Co., a Vermont-based company, will separate the paper stitched to the binders. Those pages will be cleaned and mended with Japanese tissue and special adhesives. Then they will be enclosed in protective materials and rebound.”
