New York Public Library Among Scenes of Protest

Scenes of protest filled the streets of Manhattan today, among them a protest organized at the last minute on the steps of the NYPL Bryant Park Library…between the lions. Late TV news estimated that perhaps as many as 1,000 peaceful protesters lined the steps of the library to speak their peace about the Iraq War and the Bush agenda.

Reports from Reuters, ABC News, Bloomberg and from New York Newsday.

Also shown was a newsman quizzing a protester after he climbed a tree. The man was arrested by about 10 officers after his attempt to obtain a better view of a rally by fellow immigration activists outside U.S. government offices, witnesses said.
