New Xerox self-service kiosks

at the Brooklyn Public Library system. "The Patron Access Management service gives library customers a card that works both as a library and debit card to perform or pay for just about any function a person could need at a library, Xerox said."
Eventually patrons will even use their cards to buy Snapple.”

    God, I’m a geek

    Cause I’m wondering, does this do this all with the SIP2 protocol? I didn’t realize SIP2 could do that…I knew NCIP could, but I didn’t think that was in use yet. Of course, they don’t let me play with the ILS for obvious reasons.

    That’s kind of cool. I don’t know as I’d want anyone buying Snapple, or with the reliability of our checkout system, checking out their own materials, but boy, it’s pretty cool that they could use a library card as a debit card for printing…
