Here’s a follow up on The Jessamine County Library story (that’s the place the firing of two library workers for allegedly taking matters into their own hands to prevent what they regarded as obscene material from getting into the hands of children.)
Director Critchfield can not talk about the firings, but he did say he was surprised Tuesday to receive a petition saying The Black Dossier and 3 other books represent a threat to public safety.
The petition reads in part, “This community is known to have sexual predators, and works such as these encourage those predators to act out their desires or at the very least justify their desires.”

We all know sexual predators favorite form of inspiration is comic books and graphic novels.

Is there some place where these children can go to be cared for by parents who are smart and caring enough to monitor what they do and read? Like Foster Homes for Children of The Disinterested and Hysterical?
What, the 11 year old drove herself home and then retired to her private suite, with locked doors, and never spoke to her parents about the book, who never saw her with it? She because she’s a Mossad agent all of a sudden and hid it so no one, not even some hayseed Dr. Laura could find it?
Is that what happened? Why is it that the people who demand that the government raise their children because they’re too busy look down upon parents who demand that the government raise their children because they are too lazy, poor, drunk or high? I can’t really see the difference between the two.

Ah, the league of extraordinary gentlemen has been on my “to read” list for a while. Forgotten about it. Just picked up the first two volumes from the library today.
I have to wonder what the other three books were. Lolita? Or perhaps a summary of greek legends? After all Pasiphae and the Bull or Leda and the Swan probably appear in some of those collections. Some even with artwork.

In which case shouldn’t the parents be arrested for letting their children out of the house into the public streets enticing and encouraging the sexual predators? Dressing them up in school uniforms knowing how hot that makes the sexual predators?
