Nancy Drew Moves Into 21st Century

Wordy1 writes “USA Today reports: in March, four new Nancy Drew paperbacks are due on the market. Instead of an old school approach to sleuthing, this Nancy Drew will be out of high school and use computers and other modern technologies to solve mysteries. With the target of producing six new Nancy Drew books a year, Simon & Schuster hopes these new tales will appeal to 8-to 12-year-olds, who are now devouring top-selling Harry Potter and Lemony Snicket books.”

    Who wants to read crap?
    If the publishers of the Nancy Drew books want kids to read their product then they should stop insulting the intelligence of their audience and stop dumbing down the books. Write UP you pack of drooling, subliterate morons! The current Nancy Drew series is more along the lines of Dick and Jane than anything.

    I agree – the new ones are pretty bad. I remember the original series as being a window to the world, with her traveling all over and meeting new people who were different. I think the books today are a bit more insular.
