MSN releases Beta – New Search Engine Preview

Search Web writes points to techpreview.search.msn.com a sneak peek of MSN’s new search technology. The Inquirer and Reuters are running articles with more information. Reuters says its new streamlined MSN offering, which strips out some paid advertising, would rival that of Web search leader Google Inc.

    Not impressed
    I typed “windows mobile 2003 german dictionary”
    and the first three results were:

    Yahoo
    AGS DICTIONARY
    Amazon

    wow. This is definately not ready for primetime. Only a handful of search results per query and most of those of dubious relevance. It looks like the engine reads the tag and just vomits those back in some strange order. Maybe next year?

    or when Longhorn come out.

    I should have said that the AGS dictionary wasn’t a german dictionary!

    I’m disappointed. I thought it would be somehow different that other search engines, but its just a pale imitation of Google.
