Modern librarians are hip, tech-saavy

After suffering through almost 38 years of being a loser, I’ve finally been declared hip & tech-saavy. I never thought my choice of careers would bring me such an honor, but I guess I’ll take what I can get. That Grand Declaration was made by The Grand Rapids Press.

Forget the fast-fading stereotype of the hair-in-a-bun, eyeglasses-on-a-chain, shush-happy librarian. Today’s librarians are high-tech information Hardy Boys and Nancy Drews, masters of mining cool databases and wizards at “wikis” — a Web site or other online resource that allows users to edit content — as well as social networking Web sites such as Facebook and MySpace.

So if you’re a librarian and not a wiki-wizard, what are you?
