Anonymous Patron writes “The Press & Argus Online Reports Brighton District Library officials are at a loss as to why a Web site aimed at homosexual men has listed the library bathroom as a place to meet for sex.
Library Director Charlene Huget said Wednesday the posting was discovered by someone outside the library who notified library officials.
Library officials posted a message on the Web site’s message board asking site creators to take the library name and link off its Web site, Huget said. The message stated that the police had been notified and are “monitoring” the situation.
“All we can do is tell people the bathrooms are being monitored and anyone engaging in illicit behavior is risking prosecution,” Huget said.”
LOL
Yeah, Brighton, the big bad city. They have a 7k population, I96 and US23 meet at the edge of this burg, and that is the only reason it has earned a grand total of 3 highway exits. I really have to wonder why they take some website so seriously, out of a population of 7k, and using a rather liberal estimate of 3500 males in the city.
3500 males
Estimate 5% are openly or practicing gay
175 males
Estimate 5% are willing to go to a public bathroom to have sex (and I may be unintentionally picking on them with that high of a number)
9 males
Ooo there is a huge out of control group of 9 local males that may consider meeting there for sex. Subtract the 5 who do not use the net, and that club is now down to 4 people. /sarcasm on .057% of your population having sex.
It is a brilliant use of declining tax revenue to stake out a bathroom hoping to catch
Re:LOL .0099% it is still illegal.
People should not have sex in public. Be it 99% or
People want to be able to allow their children to use the facilities without being exposed to perverts.

Just as there is no such thing as a de minimis violation of the Constitution I would most certainly hope that we do not consider the potential problem of sex in the library to be infinitessimal. It is unacceptable to contemplate anyone doing such in a library. For the purpose of deterrence I have no problem with taking steps against such madness. Such is an appropriate means to reach a desirable end.
Re:LOL
Yes, I agree with both of you, however I think this is a kneejerk reaction on the part of underqualified law enforcement people, and I have to wonder if the county prosecutor there is up for reelection in November. Michigan does not possess honest politicians, it only has representatives of the UAW and other thieves. Have I given away my home state here?
Re:LOL
Who said anything about the locals being the ones that are cruising the library? You yourself explaine that Brighton is little more that “Truckstop City”. How about big chunks of that part of the state scheduling “meetings” at a convenient public facility?
Re:LOL
You may have a point, but let’s face it, this was a kneejerk reaction to a message board posting without any background data or reasonable suspicion. It is as valid as staking out the bathroom at the local McD’s because someone scrawled, “Gay people have sex here” on the walls.
Every adult male has seen a bathroom with rather vulgar offers, demands and meeting times, and no one thinks it needs followup.
