Media shut out of hearing on pornography in library

Fern pointed us to The Canada.com Story that says the media are barred from at least the evidence portion of a labour arbitration hearing involving the Ottawa Public Library administration and its librarians, arbitrator Sydney Baxter ruled yesterday.

The library employees allege a policy allowing members of the public to view pornography on computers at the library is “poisoning” the working environment. They want the arbitrator to order the library, owned by the City of Ottawa, to install safeguards to prevent people from looking at pornography.
